Fluorocarbon - Viton (FKM)

Fluorocarbon - Viton (FKM)
Fluorocarbon (or Viton® as it's is more commonly known) is a brand name of DuPont.
In situations where both temperatures and the surrounding conditions can be extreme, Fluorocarbon offers excellent performance. It is extremely hard wearing with rugged capability enabling it to feature an impressive array of material characteristics.
Capable of withstanding the effects of a variety of aggressive chemicals it is widely used in rubber components such as O-rings, gaskets and seals.
What is Fluorocarbon?
This material is a synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer.
It has excellent resistance to high temperatures, ozone, weather, oxygen, mineral oil, fuels, hydraulic fluids and many solvent materials.
It is able to handle the temperature variation at the same time as the mechanical properties customers require.
Applications
Whether you require a standard rubber component or have a specific requirement, we can cater for your application. Fluorocarbons can be used across our catalogue components or used within a bespoke solution.
Fuel handling and delivery system rubber parts are the products Southbourne Rubber are asked to produce for a variety of customers.
We support the aerospace, MoD, DoD and marine applications with this material. We work closely with these customers and their very specific requirements to ensure we recommend the correct fluorocarbon material structure.
